2 maids

As many of you know, I'm staying with my in-laws and my husband's grannny, who is already 80++ years old. We have hired a maid - Ah Lian to take care of granny and to do the house chores. After Dillon arrived, Ah Lian has an additional responsibility to look after Dillon while I'm at work, and she was coping fine at that time.

Then after I delivered Kaith, she is still running one man show taking care of granny, Dillon & Kaith, plus the house chores. Although it seems manageable at some stage, but I do feel that my maid is over exhausted.

Therefore, we have hired another maid - Ah Min to help with the house chores. A Min is from the same hometown (Myanmar)as Ah Lian so both of them get along pretty well.

It's been half a month we have to 2 maids and everything went well so far. Although we have to fork out extra few hundreds for another maid, but it actually make us feel more relief because 2 maids can take care granny & the kids better, and the housework are done more efficiently as well.

you are so lucky to have good maids who can get along well with each other.. my MIL's maids (they have biz so need more hands) seemed to be quarreling all the time!

I wouldn't hire any maid but I understand that they do help out when you have no time and all. It's nice that you consider that and so it's easier for your maid to focus.

Karen, you are lucky to have 2 good maids.
We always have problem with maids and thus do not hire anmymore.
I have to leave my second baby to baby sitter while I work.
After back from home, and during weekend, I have a lot of housework to catch up with. Really tiring.

Hi K--sounds like your first maid was doing an incredible job. Important to have help when it's needed, especially when children are involved (smile).

Thanks everyone for your comments.

No choice since I'm a full time working mum, gotta rely on maids to help out with the kids.

At least during weekends I can spend all my time with the kids and don't need to do any housework. Sometimes if hubby & I want to go for a movie, we can leave the kids with maids too. :)

oh yes..you are lucky to have 2 good maids. Do you have communications problems with them? They speak Bahasa?

how do you find maids from myammar?? is there any communication breakdown?? oh, im so full of questions.

Dear all, thanks for your kind comments.

So far the miad are good at their work, esp taking care of the 2 young ones.

Ah Lian speaks Mandarin so there is no communication problem at all, whereas Ah Min can't speak well but it's no big deal coz it doesn't affect her work. I'm sure she'll be able to pick up the language later.

hi karen

may i know which agency you went to for both your maids? At least it shows they have "quality". Did you have a hard time choosing or via gut feelings only? Any tips on how to "interview" for a good maid? How much do you have to pay for one now cos I thought of hiring one (my first time).

Thanks / Joanna
