Since this is already my 2nd baby, I've decided to DIY my confinement due to:
1. My aunt was helping me (day time) in my last confinement but she isn't free this time, and I don't need a full time stay in confinement lady as I'll be breastfeeding & taking care at night time anyway.
2. My maid can help to bath my baby & prepare bath water for me.
3. Since I only need the meal, it'll be more cost saving to just order the food delivery.
I've been asking around for comments & checking out a few caterers that do provide confinement food delivery and then I came down to 2 options, which are SHL & Peiling. SHL was my 1st choice based on some Friend's recommendation but when I call for food tasting, they told me they are fully booked for the month of July, such a disappointment!
So then I went to Peiling for food tasting and found that their flexi-meal package is not too bad also in terms of choice of food & price, so I've decided to order 14 days of meal from them and if the service & quality is good, I will then place order for the following 14 days. The only thing that I'll need to prepare myself would be the daily red dates drinks and the chinese herbal tonic soup from 14th days onwards.
Actually we are lucky that we can have different options nowadays to plan for our confinement, and it can be catered according to our budget.

hi nicole, yes i'm currently in my 28th weeks, will be due in early july. :)
I think I'm spoilt. Dare not even think of a DIY confinement. Both time I have my MIL and mum. Hopefully this time round mum will be able to help again, praying hard that baby comes during the school holiday so mum is free to cook for me. :) Other stuffs can be done by maid and I fully breastfeed and sleep with baby too. :)

I have just read your blog, wish I read it earlier.
You are so lucky only paid deposit RM200.00 to Peiling. I was sign on their centre 30 days package not for the confinement package but for the pre-natal package because of my hubby working abroad, he just need somebody to look after me for my newly pregnancy (2 weeks). I was a bit hesitate with their services coz a lots of my frenz told me their services are not good and charges are very expensive, well, I just thought that it may be due to some people are very fuzzy, so, I just thought to give it a try..which is cost me RM4888.
The Peiling's sales girl told me that the boss has informed her to arranged a different chef only specially cooking my meals, which is more suitable for pre-natal and it will have no herbs and in fact will be very nutrition, a dedicates caretaker to look after me in the 30 days, breakfast will be Beehoon, porridge and bread etc., will be offering you a 5 stars services as you will feels like you are in the resort holiday, hassle free and relax, etc. Well, I paid the 30%deposit as the sales told me this is their minimum. The disaster begin after the 3rd days I have checked-in to the Peiling centre, the so called individual caretaker...didn't see it!! My meals was shits, even worst then I cooking on my own!! just let you think about the taste...can you imagine the steam sawi with black pepper taste; steam pork mince with dry scallop and got black pepper taste and some alcohol taste.
2) I have told the sales rep even more than 3 times and insisted her to written on my quotation NO HERBS!! unfortunately, the red dates that they gave me have herbs (for the confinement lady, which I don't know and been having almost 1week, until one of the mummy also stayed at Peiling Centre, her MIL told me, then I stopped it), the steam pork have the confinement ingredients which not for me to eat,then I said to the caretaker is ok, I thought lunch time I still have a steam fish that can be my dinner dishes, then I have told that the fish have odd smell, expired already, unable to eat, I have to finally call the caretaker to cook me a fried egg. My 19 days meals at Peiling as follows:
1) Breakfast - only 1 x meehon; 1 x porridge; 1 x pan mee.. the rest of the day...bread on butter & ham (somemore is cheap butter & cheap ham)
2) Lunch - either 1 x fish with mix veg with broccoli (some times lunch & dinner vegs are most likes the same) or 1 x pork or chicken with veg. No soup.
3) Tea time - red bean with "Tang Yuan"; "Hak Lo Mai"; or if you don't want these, then you will be served Sesame almost every day.
4) Dinner - either 1 x fish with mix veg with broccoli (some times lunch & dinner vegs are most likes the same) or 1 x pork or chicken with veg. 1 x soup.(some times good taste, but most of the times no taste, just like drinking plain water!!)
5) Supper - the same soup provided from the dinner, if you don't like it, then just told them during dinner time.
No fruits, no desserts!!
In fact the chef (so called special arrange to cook my meals) which I don't think they do it!!Coz most of the time, they are cooking for the confinement lady, will not special cook for you..this is once I check-in, I discovered. Feels like been cheated!!
other than the foods I am complaint, the environment also not very good. I was check-in SS4, during day time, its look great, but during night time...the park, night time have people talking during midnight,the LRT sound, the cars, the motorbike sound...just no peace. The room have mosquitos, you are not allowed to open the window, they don't have mosquito net, and the bathroom is crab,i.e the toilet seat is broken, the ceiling if is raining it will leaking,the ventilation in the room is not good.
Third things - DIRTY & No hygience!!! I brought 2 thermal flasks, then one of my thermal flasks that they used to put red dates juice, I suspected that they never wash or didn't wash properly, at first I don't suspect it, it was until one day I smell a funny things which I don't know where it came from,until I took the thermal flask and smell them and open the top (white closer), it was all the dirt and black things covered it..yak!! it make you feels that vomitting. I immediately thrown the red date juice to the toilet and get the caretakers to take my flask away to clean, on the same day I insist no more red dates juice for me.
Security...I don't think they have, every one press the bell at the gate, they didn't go out and checked, most of them just open the door. The Baby's room is in the ground floor, where the living room.
Services....ha..ha..WORST!! I pressed the bell need help from the caretakers, all of them told me they are not free, because one of the baby is very cranky, 3 caretakers have to try to calm the baby down. Another thing is if you want to check-in there for 30 days, don't expect it will be the same caretakers to look after the baby until full moon, because they changing their staffs at the centre almost every week or twice a week, you will expected to see new face more. Furthermore...Language problems, the period I stayed there they have 3 women that don't know how to speak cantonese, they only know how to speak in hakka (somemore is not the easy one to understand) & malay (I think is Indonesia), they are pretty rude, speaking out loud in the morning, you no need alarm, normally can be woken up by them.
They doing business not genuine!! I have found out the 4 mummies are paying different package..one is paid RM5888 with spa package worth RM388 voucher (double bed room); one is paid RM6188 with spa package RM388 (double bed room - a bit bigger size); one is paid RM6388 with nothing only have RM200 voucher (medium size room) and one is paid RM6588 (master bedroom with ensuite sharing and husband can stay in). The foods & beverages are all the same.
They told you have ASTRO in the room, don't expect you can change the channel in your room... actually you have to going to the living room which is ground floor to change the channel you want to watch, but before you change, you must check with your housemate whether they are watching it or not.
The experience nanny which they said, well, hmmm....I don't really believe it... one of the mummy told me that she already insist no Sarong and no passifier for her baby...the 3rd weeks, her baby is slept in the sarong almost during the day & night, now when she check-out already, her baby won't want to slept on the bed, eventually she has surrender, and go to get an electric swing sarong. She now told me that is all "Thanks to PeiLing!!"
Well...Overall, I will not recommended my friends to used Peiling/Daveleen whether stay at their centre or used their Nanny services or even used their foods delivery!! Don't get cheated!! Definately Not Value for money!! Don't be Fools likes me!!! I was check out on the 19 days, I didn't get my refund but I get a credit note which is able to used their spa massage facility, which is pretty ok.
Well, just forgot to said: my baby has stop growing...only 4 weeks old. :(
Please helps to let your friends or colleagues know that Peiling/Daveleen is not good choice!! Expensive and the foods are so cheap!!! You can actually hired a confinement RM2600 a month and paid the RM4000 for foods & Herbs...imagine what kind of foods & herbs you can get for RM4000? and in your own house. more comfortable!!!
insider (ex-staff) says their meal is precooked the day before, not fresh as claimed by their sales staffs
