34th week update

This is my 1st antenatal visit to HUKM as I only registered myself at 30th week (previous antenatal check up were all done at a private clinic). My appointment is scheduled at 11.00am and I reached there about 11.10am, finished the whole check up process around 12.45pm, which is consider quick this time.

I'm 34 weeks & 4 days pregnant as of today, everything is fine with me & baby. My weight is now 65kg (put on 2kg since 30th week) and baby weighs 2.3kg. During ultrasound, the doctor confirmed that I'm having a baby girl and I myself can also see the "private part" very clearly on the screen this time. :)

I'll have to return to HUKM on 11th June for MGTT test because my mum recently just found out that she has diabetes. So to be on the safe side, doctor has recommended me to undergo the test to check the glucose level in my blood.

My following antenatal check in HUKM is scheduled at 38th week so I'll need to go for check up at 36th week at the private clinic if I wish to.

Busy with another blog

It's been 3 days since my last post on Friday, this has never happened before as I usually will have at least one post every other day. Wonder if anyone would have noticed this & might start thinking that I might have popped already, haha. :P

Well well, I'm still here but was busy with work as usual, and also busy uploading my baby food recipe into my other blog. I've decided to do so as I have been getting requests from mummies at the forum (there are requests everyday) to share the recipes & I'm kind of lazy to email to them. They can now easily access the recipes anytime and it also helps to draw traffic to my blog, sounds good hor? :)

Anyway, I'll be on leave tomorrow going for my 34th week routine check up in the morning, I'll update the status afterwards.

Balloon Pets

I was wandering in Mid Valley this afternoon as I'm on half day leave. There are so many children toys & books fair in conjunction with the school holiday, it's definitely a good place for parents & kids to drop by & shop, if they don't mind the traffic jam & big crowd.

Check out for some of the fairs & activities here

In one of the fair held by MegaKidz at Center Court, I saw these cute "Balloon Pets".

I'm sure these "Balloon Pets" will capture the kids' interest, but when I look at the price, each of these pets cost RM42.90 and for the Dinosaurs & Hello Kitty (is this also a pet??), it'll cost RM55.90, not cheap huh? Well I'm not sure about the other parents but it's definitely not something that I'm willing to spend for my kids.

Confinement food catering

Most of you would have known that I won't have a confinement lady this time and I will order confinement food catering. Click here to read about my plan & budget.

Therefore I've done quite a bit of "research" & enquiries around with different caterers and I thought I would share the information with all, who knows some of you might need this as reference in future? :) I would not comment about the food & service here because everybody has different taste buds & requirement. You can always arrange for free food tasting with all these caterers & judge yourself.

My breastfeeding journey - Part 2

Everyday when I go to work, I have to bring along my cooler bag with all the necessary items eg. breast pump, storage bottles, cloth, nursing pads & cooler block. I normally would breastfeed Dillon before I leave for work around 7.30 - 8am. Then I would pump once around 11 -11.30am and another around 4 - 4.30pm in order to maintain my milk supply & ease my engorgement.

Sad to say I have no choice but to pump in the office washroom as there isn't a nursing room or any vacant room in the office. There are only 2 cubicles in the washroom & at times when I'm doing my routine, I do feel bad that I have to make people wait for long. There are also some male colleagues who will make funny faces when they see the cooler bag & bottles of milk I kept in the fridge but I couldn't care less of what they think.

When I'm back home, I will either breastfeed Dillon or pump, depending on the timing (he need to take 7oz each feed). I can't sleep through every night due to engorgement, if Dillon is awake I will feed him direct, otherwise I'll still need to get up & pump. It's so tiring & there are few times where I actually fell asleep half way pumping the milk.... :P

I manage to breastfeed Dillon for 8 months, after which I have decided to take a break as I was planning for 2nd baby. Now when I think back about it, it's a bit of waste that I didn't keep it up longer...... Well I will try to breastfeed my 2nd baby longer and hopefully I'll have a smooth journey this time. - to be continued

My breastfeeding journey - Part 1

No one in mine or my in-law family have had the experience in breastfeeding so when I'm determined to breastfeed Dillon (actually I don't recall what makes me decided to breastfeed my baby), I need to do lots of reading from the web, books & ask for advice from friends, I've also attended a seminar held at Pantai Bangsar.

Right after Dillon was born & cleaned by the nurse, he was placed in the labour room with me, the nurse taught me how to let him latch on properly & then he immediately start sucking...... It was such a peaceful scene & I definitely won't forget this beautiful moment in my life.

When we returned home, I continued to breastfeed him but I'm so stressed that I don't seem to have the milk flowing in, so I decided to mix feed with formula milk in bottle as I don't want to push myself too hard. Being a 1st time mum without experience, I was so frustrated & nearly gave up on breastfeeding if I have not got the support from my hubby & some breastfeeding mums. It was real tough for the first few days & finally it got better after I had my Malay urut session on the 4th day. The milk flow started to establish & I began to gain back the confidence in myself.

When I have to return to work after 2 months of maternity leave, it's another challenging part in the breastfeeding journey for me........ to be continued in next post......

Dillon Yiau - 姚明宏

Got this tag from Cairo's mummy quite some time back and now only I remember about it.... Sorry la, have to forgive me being an absent minded preggie mum ok (excuses....;P)?

Full name: Dillon Yiau Ming Hong 姚明宏

Dillon - means Faithful. Hubby & I picked this name as we want our son to be a faithful person & have faith in himself too.
Ming Hong - This is given by sifu after Dillon was born. The chinese characters are picked based on his date & time of birth
Ming - This chinese character equals to sunlight. Dillon was born in winter season (Dec) & his element is wood (wood in winter = not active, lazy), so he would need to have sunlight or fire in his middle name to complement with.
Hong - means Great. This chinese character is also to complement with the surname & middle name & form a good combination.

Since we haven't decide a name for our 2nd baby, moreover the chinese name will only be picked by the same sifu after baby is born so I'll do it in another post next time. :) Also I'm not tagging anyone else as I can see almost everyone has done this tag already.......

Hayward's Mommy

Mommy Yiau - meaning of Dillon's name

Peimun - meaning of Kendra's name

Dillon has a girlish face? :)

Got to know about this fun site from Cairo's Mummy. Just load your kids photos & you will get the celebrities faces match in seconds. You can even try to load with your own or your hubby's photo, haha.

I've tried with a few of Dillon's photos and there is a match with Hong Kong comedy star Stephen Chow Sing Chi, hahaha. But most of the celebrities faces match I got are female, even some Japanese girls like Ayumi, BoA... HAHAHA!! Does it mean Dillon has got a girlish face? I don't know, you judge it yourself, but this cool site will definitely bring some fun to you & your kids. :)

Try to find the celebrities face match here & have a good laugh!

Terry's birthday party

Went to baby Terry's 1st birthday party yesterday afternoon together with Hubby & Dillon.

The food is nice & the Snoopy gift pack for Dillon is lovely too, I knew that Mummy Judy has put in a lot of "sam si" (effort) to prepare this. Thumbs up to you!

Too bad Dillon doesn't seem to enjoy mixing with other kids but rather want to explore on his own, guess he is still at a parallel play stage or maybe he is too shy? Hahaha.

Sorry to Judy that we didn't stay long enough but I hope Terry has enjoyed the party & likes the puzzle gift. :)

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!
Although Dillon is 5.5 months older than Terry, but looks like he is more of a tiny size hor..... Judy, care to share what you feed Terry ar? :)

Craving for mango

Have been craving for Mango in the past week and thus I bought 3 nos on Monday, thinking to eat one on every other day. I'm only craving for the sweet ones & dislike the sour ones. Therefore I have to keep 2 that are not so ripe yet in the rice bucket for a few days & wait for it to ripe, the other 1 I kept in the fridge.

On Tuesday morning when I want to take the mango from the fridge to my office, it is already gone and when I ask my maid, she said my MIL ate it last night after I went to bed. Ok fine, at least I still have the other 2 in the rice bucket, but since it's not ripe yet, I will wait patiently.

On Thursday night, the mangoes finally turned into nice yellowish colour and became soft, I kept them back in the fridge so that I can eat it over the weekend. Guess what then? This morning when I open the fridge, nothing is left there (who else could have eaten it?) I know it's just a small matter but you can tell how furious I am if you also have cravings before; as I'm writing this, I'm still furious but I know I cannot complain my MIL, because it's rude to do so.....So I can only vent my anger here.....:<

This morning....

Dillon and I woke up around 9.15am this morning. I don't know how he sleeps or what he did in his sleep last night, I guess must be some kung fu kicking & boxing actions and he ended up in his pyjamas like this. Look at his grumpy face, I just feel funny... ;P

Red dates drink

I don’t know about the rest but I hate taking iron pills. Every time after I took it, whether on empty stomach or after meal, I will sure have a feeling of vomiting which will last for hours. Therefore in my 1st pregnancy, I only take iron pill once a week and I drink red dates drink every other day, and I didn’t have any low blood problem at all.

This time I am doing the same but I have become lazier & only manage to prepare the red dates drink once a week. But I'm planning to prepare it more often as my last blood test results showed that I'm a little bit low in blood count & haemoglobin.

To prepare the drink, just take a rice bowl full of red dates (buy the big ones) & 1/3 bowl of dong sum, boil in 2L of water for half an hour & drink it everyday. It is up to you to use the seedless red dates as some said the seeds are "heaty", but what I heard is the seeded red dates is actually better; just that you need to cut it into half before boiling it, so the lazy me just buy the seedless one la.

Embarrassed

I've not been able to complete the food tag that was passed to me weeks ago, therefore I've decided to have Pan Mee for lunch yesterday, snap some pictures & complete the tag.

I went there with 3 of my colleagues, ordered 4 Pan Mee, 2 dried 2 soup. We were happily eating & gossiping from office rumours, politics to current issues. We spent about 1 hour in the coffee shop and then head back to office around 1.30pm.

So what is embarrassed then? None of us remembers to pay for the Pan Mee until we reached office!!! HAHAHA, embarrassing or not?

Sorry ar uncle, we didn't mean to eat your Pan Mee for free, we will definitely pay back RM14.00 to you when we return next time ok? LOL

Read & see about the FREE Pan Mee we had here

Dillon on money notes

I got to know about this fun Money Generator site when I was reading Babyboon's Blog yesterday. Once I started doing it with Dillon's picture, I just can't stop, haha. It was so funny to have Dillon's face on the notes & I can't stop laughing when I see it, share it with hubby & he said it's cute too. :)

Here are some of my precious "artwork":

Ok now, go enjoy making your fake notes HERE. LOL

Bad temper

Normally Dillon will sleep around 11pm on the same bed with me, where later on I will transfer him to his cot & he will sleep till next morning without fuss. But in the past 2 weeks, he has been so cranky at night & refuse to sleep even it's already 12pm. He just non stop moving around on the bed, & disturb me not letting me to sleep; when I transfer him to the cot, he will be awake in less than 5 minutes & start making noise & wanted to sleep next to me, with his back or face sticking to my chest, really clingy..... Is it because he is more demanding as he grows now or he has sensed that he is going to have a sibling soon???

This often makes me lost my temper & I will scold him & beat his buttock, put away his pacifier & let him cry, but of course later I will comfort him also la, if not how to sleep? I don't know whether it's my hormone changes due to pregnancy or what, I just lost control of myself so badly recently & I hate being like this, it makes me feel guilty after I scolded & beaten Dillon... :<

Down with coughing & cold

I so wanted to drink iced cold Ribena in the past few days, therefore I've made 2 bottles & kept in the fridge & have drank it yesterday afternoon.

Then what happen to me now? Down cough & cold already loh.... sad case isn't it? I've been sneezing & coughing the whole of last night. It was really shiok when drinking the Ribena but now have to take the consequences pulak.... sigh*** Hubby scolded me too because I refuse to listen to him & restrain from cold drinks.

I had cough also when I was 5 months preggy, cough syrup won't help as it was too mild & thus I have to take chinese cough medicine (some sort of syrup too) & then I was healed. This time I'm still thinking if I should do the same, actually I don't want to take any sort of medicine if possible, will I just healed by myself? I'm just afraid it would get worst if I don't start taking any medicine now..... sigh*** what an unpleasant start to the week....

Slow......

Didn't manage to post anything in this blog over the weekend (but got post in another blog la) because my maid was away on Saturday & I have to look after Dillon full time, haha, cannot curi tulang so less time to spend on blogging.

I was very sleepy this morning, why? I was blog hopping around 11.30pm last night & plan to go to bed at 12pm but then I saw the very hot news in shoppingmum's blog, and from there I refer to other blogs with the related news and.... I end up finish digesting everything around 1am++, as the connection was damn slow. I think I'm very slow also coz I didn't know anything about it in the past few days when the heat already started, only last night I got to know it...... Guess I must read other blogs more often leh....

Dillon calls me "baba"

I'm so sad that Dillon doesn't know how to call "mama" or "mummy" nowadays (he used to call but now he is not), he is now calling me "baba" (obviously hubby is very happy).

In case you can't catch what he was saying in the video (in mandarin) , it's actually baba (dad), korkor (elder brother), popo (grandma), meimei (sister), didi (younger brother), xiexie (thank you), kai (open). And lastly when I ask him to call me "mama", he still said "baba"...... :<

Plans on Mother's Day

It'll be Mother's Day this coming Sunday and it's my 2nd year in motherhood. Well Dillon is still too young to know about it so there won't be any gifts for me yet (unless hubby is willing to buy "on behalf"? hehe)

Anyway, I suppose most of us would already have plans or at least is planning for something over the weekend. As for myself it'll be a simple dinner with my mum & siblings on Sunday. Not sure if hubby wanted to have any celebration with MIL too but I'll leave that to him......

As far as I know, there are a couple of events lining up on this weekend & I thought I would compile the information & share with all. It's all posted in another blog of mine, read here.

Cleaning the toilet

Remember my previous post that praised Dillon for being a good helper at home? Dillon has "acquired" a new task now, besides wiping table, moping the floor & sweeping the porch, he is also helping to clean the toilet. Look how serious he is doing his job. ;P

I just want to add that I'm not using child labour or abusing my kid, hahaha, he just like to copycat whatever he sees us doing, even throwing rubbish into the bin seems fun to him. ;)

Astro kids programs

Yeah I sure know Astro is very common to Malaysian families, too common until when you look up at a typical apartment block, you can see 3 out of 5 units have this Astro Wok (satellite dish) installed.

I myself did not install Astro at home because no one actually watches TV programs. My hubby & I mostly watch drama series or movies in DVD when we have time. I was once tempted to install Astro for Dillon to watch the educational or cartoon programs but when I think over it again, maybe it's not the time yet, plus now the subscription fee is going to increase.... Currently Dillon is enjoying his VCD & DVD shows.

Just wondering how many of you have Astro at home for your kids to watch? Are the kids programs really good & interesting for them? Or you would rather buy the VCD or DVD for them instead of letting them becoming Astro TV addicts?

Dillon on the "phone"....

Dillon was on the "phone" the other day, he imitated the style we talk & even giggle in the middle of "conversation", haha ;)

P/S: If you can't view the video yesterday, please try again now as I just realised that I've selected to post the video privately, thanks Judy for informing me. I've edited the setting & everyone should be able to view it now.

New collection of books

One of my MIL's best friend in Singapore just made a trip to KL recently and she has brought a bunch of great books & flash card for Dillon and I really appreciate her for being so kind & so thoughtful.

Since he has more books now, I've made space at my shelf (I mean putting away hubby's item into storage box, hehehe :P) to keep all his books so that he could access to them easily. I'm sure Dillon is happy with his lil' reading corner & the new collection of books as well (though he basically flip through the pages only) and I'd also need to spend more time reading to him (means lees time for blogging, hehe)

Hair cut

Just brought Dillon for hair cut at Indian Barber shop last Sunday. As usual, he was crying his heart out once the barber came near him with the scissors.

Hubby has to hold him tight throughout the session but he was still struggling hard to get away. It was a pitiful scene to see him crying like that, with tear drops running down & mucus coming out from his nose, strands of hair all over his face. No matter what I talked to him or how hard I tried to "entertain" him, it just doesn't work but once the barber was done, he immediately stopped crying.

I wonder if all kids at this age also fear of hair cutting, actually what makes them so scare or dislike? Or is it the barber that they are fear of?

Feeling better

Something is different today, I notice that my womb has moved up & the following changes.

1.When I got up from the bed this morning, I don't feel as much pain & pressure on my pelvic area as I used to in the past few weeks.
2. I can walk faster & more comfortable.
3. Baby kicks more frequent on the upper part of my stomach instead of the lower part.
4. I eat lesser as I feel like the baby is pressing against my stomach & have slight heartburn too.

I am somewhat "happy" about the change because I don't feel the pain & pressure that much anymore. I am also blessed that I don't have backache, swelling or leg cramp, just like my 1st pregnancy, and I hope it'll continue to be like this till the day I pop. ;)

Weight gain

1st pregnancy in 2005
Started at : 49kg
Last weigh before pop : 65kg
Total weight gained : 16kg

Lost 5 kg right after giving birth, another 5kg in the following 2 months. Maintained at 54-55kg until I stop breastfeeding at 8th month, then manage to get back at 52kg (but soon at the 10th month I conceived again....hehe)

2nd pregnancy in 2006/07
Started at : 52kg
Last weigh at 30th week : 63kg
Total weight gained to date : 11kg

Looking at the rate I'm gaining weight, I think I'm on track & hopefully will be able to shed off all the extra pounds after delivery. I will share my weight loss diary here if I ever succeed, hahaha LOL

Potty training

Currently when Dillon needs to poo poo, he will take his potty to us but when comes to peeing time, he is not able to "control" it yet.

Since my maid is the one who spent most of the time with Dillon during the day so she is the ideal person to train him, however this is possible as she also needs to do other household chores & don't have the time to do it.

Therefore I'm planning to do it myself during my coming confinement months (July-August)where I'll be mostly at home throughout the day. Hopefully my new baby is not taking up too much of my time & I'll be able to potty train Dillon successfully within a week or two. Will need to source for more information & tips on potty training. ;)

It's been a month....

Well time flies and so fast it's been a month since I created my blog & written my first post back in 6th April 2007.

I totally do not know anything about blogging but I have learned a lot through asking friends & visiting other people's blogs. I'm not sure if my posts are good for all to read but I've really enjoyed myself in writing & sharing.

Now that I have 2 blogs in hand (this one & "Under The SUN"), I will try to write regularly & hopefully would be able to maintain both. ;)

17 months old already

Sorry Dillon, mummy is so absent minded lately that I have forgotten that your were "officially" 17 months old yesterday, but it's not too late that I can recall it now right? hehe :)

Is that why you cried & made noise & don't want to sleep last night? Mummy felt sorry that I've scolded you & hit your buttock for being so cranky, mummy shouldn't have lost temper & vent my anger on you. This morning was so rush that mummy don't have the time to sayang you too, would you give mummy a big hug & kiss when mummy comes home tonight?

Happy 17th month birthday to my dearest son!!

Cooking

Since I have been very lazy lately, I don't really feel like going out during weekend and so cooking has became my new hobby in the recent weekends.

Normally I'll need to prepare 3 dishes & 1 soup for dinner & sometimes I really run out of idea of what to cook. Luckily my hubby is not choosy about food so basically I will cook whatever that I crave for and he will just finish it.

Anyone interested in the recipe or just want to get some ideas on what to eat can check it out here.

Where is the remote control?

Dillon will now show you how to turn off the TV when mummy has hide the remote control ....... he always got a way to do what he wants... ;)

This is my chair

Dillon will always sit on this red arm chair when watching TV, maybe coz red is more appeal to kids? If someone else has occupied the seat, he will keep "disturbing" until the person give out the seat, what a lil' gangster, look at the way he sits, luckily he is a boy...... ;P

My good helper

Dillon always volunteer himself to do the household chores and mummy wish to thank him for being such a "great help". ;)

Wipe the table

Mop the floor

Sweep the porch

My 1st labour story

Another 60 more days I will be in my 2nd labour, just thought to jot down my 1st labour experience before I forget (will I ever forget?? hmm...)

EDD: 2nd Dec 2005
Actual due date: 6th Dec 2005 (4 days overdue)

1st contraction: 2.00am (very mild) but couldn't sleep at all so just surfing on web & wait till 5.30am when the contraction became more intense.

Admitted to hospital: 6.00am (only dilated 1cm)
From 6.00am - 10.00am: Rolled on the bed & couldn't sleep or eat, just had a cup of Milo around 8.00am, contraction was so regular (dilated 2cm at 10.00am)

At 12.00pm: Still dilated at 2cm only and water bag still not broken.
At 2.00pm: Doctor decided to break the water bag for me as my dilation is too slow, gosh I won't forget that sharp pain when she poke my water bag, feel like giving her a kick on the face. (dilated at 3cm)

At 2.30pm: Admitted to the labour room & was given drips to induce the labour. Asked for epidural jab but there was no effect (maybe the dose at government hospital is too cheapskate & it didn't work well) so I gave up on that.

From 2.30pm - 5.30pm: I'm not doing anything except yelling, crying & talking nonsense at my hubby. The pain is so unbearable.... (dilated at 7cm)

At 6.00pm: Doctor came & said based on my "progress" it might took me another 2 hours before I dilate to 10cm!! I nearly fainted, how am I going to bear for 2 more hours? It's insane!

From 6.00pm - 6.30pm: I don't know how did this happen, but I was fully dilated to 10cm within this half hour. :D

At 6.47pm: I delivered baby Dillon in just 5 pushes......

Total hours: more than 12 hours (starting from contraction)
Sleep/rest: No sleep or rest for more than 24 hours
Food: No solid food for more than 12 hours

I just pray hard that I could do it faster with lesser pain this time.... ;)

Look clumsy

As my tummy grow bigger, the pressure I felt pressing down my pelvic area has become greater as well.

It was difficult for me to change my position when sleeping & worst when I want to get up from the bed. I also can't lift my leg now when standing so I basically have to sit or lie down on the bed to wear my pants & undies. I am now thinking how to trim my toes nail so maybe it's a good chance for me to ask hubby to pay me for pedicure hor? hehehe

I've been walking like a duck nowadays, look so clumsy & so not glamour....sigh.... ;(

Baby equals to tummy

I've been telling Dillon that he is going to have a didi or meimei ever since my tummy pop out around 5 months plus, I showed him my tummy & get him to touch on it.

So whenever I ask him "where is baby?", he would lift up my clothes (so I can only ask him in our room) & pat on my tummy (instead of touching it "softly") & sometimes poke my belly button (he seems more interested in this). So I thought he actually understands what baby means?

But one day when my hubby ask Dillon the same question, he quickly lift up his dad's shirt & pat on his tummy too! Well, looks like he has mistaken that baby = tummy........LOL. So in order not to further "confuse" him, I've banned hubby from asking Dillon the question again.

I love my peekaboo book

Manage to snap the pictures while we were travelling back from the mall last weekend. Dillon was flipping through his favourite peekaboo book initially & 10 minutes after that, he fell asleep but was still holding on to the book. Looked like a real bookworm to me.... ;)

Baby & I are alright!

It's been more than 24 hours since I fell from the stairs yesterday and so far I did not experience any unusual discharge or pain in my tummy. Baby's movement is as regular so I didn't go to see the doctor and I guess baby & I are alright. At one point I was so worried that my baby will be affected by the impact & might cause me pre-term labour....... phew.... thank God! And thank to those who concerned about us.

This accident actually reminds me that when I was pregnant with Dillon last time, I fell down in the toilet also around 7 months preggy & I hurt my knee that time but nothing to the baby luckily. Guess I'm really getting clumsy nowadays with my big tummy, I'll be extra careful in whatever I do now.

Fell from the stairs

I was so so so clumsy, or I must have been day dreaming while walking down the stairs, whichever it is, I must be blamed.

Just now while I was walking down from my room to the 2nd floor, I accidentally took the wrong step and fell on my butt with a loud bang. Hubby quickly rushed down & helped me to get up. I was so scared and the only thing that cross my mind was "is my baby ok?"

I seem ok up to now, no bleeding/unusual discharge or any sort of pain in my tummy, except the normal kind of pressure on my pelvic area. I might go to see the doctor tomorrow if I still feel uneasy later on, I just want to less my worries.

I still do not understand how could this happen but I'm praying hard that my baby is unhurt.

This was where I fell from, "landed" on my butt & my back was against the wall.

Baby names

Well this is a bit strange, my hubby told me that he had a dream few weeks back and in the dream, he was calling his daughter Kaith and so he said that he would like to name our baby girl by this name.

Actually I have no objection to his idea, Kaith sounds like a good name to me as well but of course if we could think of another better name, we might change our mind. On the other hand, I'm also thinking of some boy's names for "standby" but haven't got any clue yet. Will need to check out on the web & perhaps ask around for some ideas. :)
